5 Toxic Ingredients to Avoid!
Read the labels to avoid toxic ingredients in your household products. There are plenty of harmful chemicals out there, but here are the notable ones;
1. Ammonia
Found in: Glass cleaner and polishing agent.
Why?:
It is an irritant, always inhaled when being used effecting people especially with ashtma or lung and breathing difficulties. Giving short and long term effects.2. Chlorine
Found in: Toilet bowl cleaners, mildew removersWhy?:
Chlorine is a respiratory irritant, usually being exposed through fumes and possibly through skin when you clean with it. Poisonous at high concentrations.
3. Sodium Hydroxide / Ammonium Hydroxide
Found in: Oven cleaners, carpet shampooWhy?:
Both are extremely corrosive. Causes severe burns when in contact with skin or when it gets in your eyes. Inhaling can cause a sore throat.
4. 2-Butoxyethanol
Found in: Window and multipurpose cleaners
Why?:
A powerful solvent that usually being inhaled that can cause sore throats. Causing damage to kidney and liver at higher concentrations.
5. Quarternary Ammonium Compounds, or “QUATS”
Found in: Fabric softeners and antibacterial cleanersWhy?:
QUATS are lung irritants and can contribute to asthma and other breathing problems. They also irritate skin, that leads to rashes.
